Processes

At our clinic in Grand Prairie, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA’s), holding a Master’s degree or higher, design and supervise our Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program. Our direct staff work one-on-one with children. The direct staff are all trained as Registered Behavior Technicians, a status regulated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, which also certifies BCBA’s. BCBA’s are on site daily. This level of training and supervision enhances children’s successes.

ABA session schedules are based on assessed need, family scheduling and payer prior approval. Children can benefit from several hours a week to rapidly gain skills. Sessions are usually from 9:00am to 12:30pm, and 1:00pm to 4:30pm, or a combination of these sessions. We are open to discussing alternate schedules. Most of our sessions occur at the clinic, but we can also discuss off site service locations like shadowing within a private school. We currently serve children ages 2-10.

Lonestar Autism Solutions has BCBA’s in the ABA program who are certified and billable for most insurance payers who cover ABA, including Aetna, Beacon, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, United and Magellan. We bill some grant programs as well, contact us for further information.

The PROCESS for beginning services includes:

  • Call to express interest (817-265-2344) and receive an application.
  • Allow us to check ABA coverage from the insurance company, and confirm that the child has a diagnosis of autism. The insurance companies and the grant sources for ABA usually require an autism diagnosis as part of considering coverage. We do not diagnose at Lonestar Autism Solutions, but can help refer to specialists who diagnose. These have to be PhD psychologists, pediatric neurologists or similar professionals.
  • Tour clinic and turn in application, diagnostic evaluation report, and other relevant documents on the child.
  • Insurance payers require prior approval for both intake and ABA service hours. Lonestar Autism Solutions will gain approval from the payer in order to conduct an intake assessment with our BCBA and staff. After approval, a date and time for the intake assessment will be set. Your child’s individual plan is then completed within a week, with recommendations for goals and hours per week of ABA services.

This plan will be reviewed with you. LoneStar Solutions will submit the plan and recommended service hours to the payer. Once approved, direct ABA service hours can be scheduled and can begin. Approvals are usually received within a few days’ time. Approvals for ABA are usually for 6 month service periods.
